Some notes on Drop 001

Hey! Thanks for being part of the first drop ever(!). Lots of great stuff submitted – we hope you get a chance to explore it all.

  • This drop was music HEAVY. This makes sense (it’s so easy to share), but since you didn’t get to personally choose who you’re getting it from, the music you’re getting spans a TON of genres, potentially more than you’ll like. Also, in the future, we might try to automate a Spotify playlist of all the submitted tracks.

    We ran into some issues of how to categorize content the best way possible. Current media is so incestuous (a concert on YouTube, an article about a new album, a social post about a new Netflix show) that bucketing these was trickier than expected.

    Lastly, there’s been some discussion about context, and how much/little to give (especially when it comes to the social/web sections). It definitely helps, but we’ll definitely be exploring this more.
